Massa, By The Sea

Massa – Beach, Sea In Remorse?

Beach in sadness. Peter Lindberg Photography
The beach in Marina di Massa, Italy.

The off-season again. I like the off-season. Leaves more to fantasy. And all the trash blown in from the Mediterranean sort of gives you a reciept on how destructive modern society is. During summer and high season everything is cleaned up. Bet the sea is still full of it; garbage dumped by ships owned by greedy owners, by nations that don’t value Mother Earth. By people too poor and uneducated to care or know better. And lots of garbage is being exported by mafia from Italy and the Balkan. So there is the backside of fancy living on the European side, that creeps up on us during winter, as a reminder. Greed hits back. Ignorance hits back. But we get to pay.

Colonia Ettore Motta – Marina di Massa

Colonia Ettore Motta – Left To Decay

Colonia Ettore Motta, Marina di Massa, Italia
Colonia Ettore Motta, built for Gruppo Edison Marina di Massa.

Colonia Ettore Motta in Marina di Massa  was built for Gruppo Edison as a recreation-site for company employes. During World War 2 it was used a s a hospital and after different twists and turns it is now in decay with unclear ownership and responsibilities. Read more here.

Unfortunately the site was closed off when I was there in March this year. As I understand people tend to open up from time to time, allowing urban explorers to enter the area. We will se what next visit in the future brings. 😉

Marina di Massa

Off-season in Marina di Massa

Marina di Massa

Marina di Massa. Off season. March. No-one cleans up after the winter just yet. Shit everywhere. Not so shiny now, right? The people in SUV:s stay far away. So does their money. I don’t miss them. Prefer the shit. 😉

No offense, but beaches are best without too much people. And the amount of scrap that blows in from the sea should be a reminder about how we treat our planet. Throw your garbage where it belongs, and recycle what is recyclable!

Way Out – Rimini

Out - Photographer Peter Lindberg
Rimini, Italy in March 2013

People in the distant. Cloud-shrudded skies and a steady wind. But winter is letting go. Soon comes summer, the heat and all those beach-dwellers. Is it better right now? I think so. Me. You, the sand and the sea.

In Italy – Photographer Peter Lindberg

In Italy…

Vacations are over for this year…

End of season - Peter Lindberg fotograf Göteborg

Italians have their vacation mostly in August. Schools start around the 15th of september so then it is over for sure. Everything closes. Perfect for Scandinavians like me that like the beach to myself, more or less. This shot was taken in Giulianova, about 40 km north of Pescara, in the Teramo region of Abruzzo. But the scene could be fetched pretty much anywhere along the  Italian coastline. For Abruzzo it can be said that here we have almost no foreign vacationers all summer. That means better restaurants and people not being fed up with foreigners!

This is a photograph from my new series of images from Italy. This project is just starting and everything should be considered “work in progress”. Stay tuned for more soon and later. It is all about behind the facade, when the season is over and the sun-umbrrellas are tucked away….

A House – Pieces of Sweden

A nice entrance.

Isn’t that what we all try to make? This house has one. In my opinion at least. I like these typical 50’s houses. Don’t miss out on the rest of the pieces at my homepage: Pieces of Sweden

Another piece of Sweden

Pieces of Sweden is a long-term project of mine, and is about showing little bits of Sweden that people often (sometimes not so often) walk or drive past, look at but don’t see. There is a hidden beauty even in the less beautiful and these bits of reality often makes me think and fantasize about what might have been going on there in the past.

Spring in Suburbia 2013 – Pieces of Sweden

Pieces of Sweden – Another chunk of it!

As spring Finally comes to Suburbia, new opportunities open for pieces of Sweden to be cut out of reality. This project isn’t something you do on a plan. Images tend to just show themselves when not looking for them. They sort of hide in a NMP-field, like “The Heart of Gold” in “The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy”. They appear at the edge of your eye and fortunately I now have a warning-system alerting me for such as they show themselves. So here we go… If you want to see the rest of this project this far, take a look here: Pieces of Sweden at the Peter Lindberg Photography website

A Day At The Beach – Pescara

A Day At The Beach…

The best way to spend time doing nothing really… is a day at the beach. Beaches are best at off-season. And it was a nice day.

A Day At The Beach - Fotograf Peter Lindberg Göteborg
A Day At The Beach

Pescara, the capital in Abruzzo has some pretty good beaches, right smack in the middle of the city. These beaches extend pretty much all the way north through the region. And with some interruptions they continue all the way up through the regions north of Abruzzo, up to where the lowlands around Venice take over.

To the south the beaches are quite different. Small pebbles below steep cliffs or just cliffs right into the sea. The beaches in the south of Abruzzo tend to be less crowded during high season. And pebbles means less sand that you bring home with you. Locals often say they prefer the beaches in the south. I think I agree.

An Appeal To Your Good Convictions – Spread My Art!

Art is Heart! Spread it, spread my art!

Here I stand on my bare knees, asking for your help. It will not cost you a penny, only a minute of your time. And the result will be more photography and images for you to see, feelings to feel. If you spread the word around about my posts, the ones you like, more people will see them. If more people will se my art, my images (if it is art or not is in the eye of the beholder ultimately) and more will like it or dislike it. And the more that see, the more the chance to sell increases. And when I sell my art and my time as a professional photographer, the more time and resources I can spend on my artistic work since the bills will already be paid.

Everybody talks about the importance of art and artists, fewer are willing to invest in us. I am not asking for your money, just your help to spread the word and links to my work. And I also ask you to do that with other artists who’s work you like. By doing this you contribute to the developing of art, to the evolvement and development of society. Even the old greeks understood this: Art is what makes a society civilized. Without art we are merely naked monkeys.

So how do you spread my art? It is easy; copy paste the link to the post into a your FaceBook timeline, email it to friends, like my FaceBook page for Peter Lindberg Photography and share my updates, LIKE updates on FaceBook, skare and like on Google+, share links on Twitter, follow me on Twitter and re-tweet my tweets… and so on.

Thank you for your time, and thank you for helping out!

Sincerely
Peter Lindberg

Pieces of Sweden – Another Photograph

New-ish photograph: Pieces of Sweden keeps growing!

My long-term project “Pieces of Sweden”  keeps growing, slowly but steadily. This is the kind of images you can’t rush. They have to come to you, more or less. With the project I want to show the beauty in the ugly, show things people never notice even though hiding in plain sight. “Pieces of Sweden” is intended to make people feel, and make people think about what is there right under their noses when they hunt for happiness. Have you missed this project? Not seen much  of it before? Take a moment and look at the images at the “Pieces of Sweden”-gallery on my main website. And if you want to stay updated, you can follow me on the “Peter Lindberg Photography” FaceBook-page or on Twitter – @LindbergPhoto
