The Adriatic Sea

Roseto and the Adriatic Sea.

Roseto and the rest of the coast is coming out of it’s winter slumber. The boards are taken off the windows of the beach-clubs and restaurants along the Lungomare. More than a few adrift souls find their way to the beach were the Adriatic sea meets the sand, and the boardwalk. Winter turning into spring with green leaves emerging from the trees branches and temperatures over 15° C. Now we are happy again.

It’s finally sort of spring! Vasaplatsen!

A panorama over Vasaplatsen at the brink of spring.

Vasaplatsen in central Göteborg, next to the university (Göteborgs Universitet, the original building; today spread out over many more locations in the city) is a bit of a quiet eye, a place for a coffee in the sun by the fountain. Among bustling traffic and trams, backdropped by  the Jugend (Art Noveux) buildings of Vasastaden and as said above, below the old university-building. Once occupied by boozed out drunkards and smack-users, Vasaplatsen is now cleaned up and a valuable spot in town. Enjoy!

Roseto – May 2013

What are you looking at? Roseto promenade

A second later this lady smiled back at me, when she understood what I was doing. Capturing the mood on Lungomare, the beach-walk. If you ever come here during summer you will undertsnd what I mean. Very relaxed, all kinds of people. Welcome.

On The Job! The World In My Eyes...

They are gone…

Gone, vacant..

In this particular apartment, a person lived the final hers of his or her life. Even though all furniture and all other things not bolted to the apartment are removed, still something remains. Can’t really tell what it is. Many of you have experienced it too I think…

All has left. New ones wanted. Peter Lindberg Photography

It was said… (street poem)

….by who?

Utanför Hemköp, Vasagatan
He kept himself alive…

Clickable image. 🙂

He kept himself alive so others might not miss him. Family and friends kept at a healthy distance. He left them at times to ponder hopeless questions. And at those times, all he wanted was to never be forgotten. – Street poem by unknown artist

Oops! Twisted Insurance?

Folksam insurance got twisted!

Lets Twist - Happy editing accident
Folksam Försäkringar – Twisted Insurance 😉

The insurance-industry is a twisted world, so what an happy accident that a editing-messup led to this funky result! 🙂 Not that Folksam is worse than any other insurance-firm, nor better. It was just an accident going right. Over and out.

Dig it.

Dig it out, simply.

Rimini getting ready for beach-season
Digging out the tiles after winter.

March 2013 in Rimini, the ol’ boys prepare for beach season by digging out the paved path from the beach-club to the sea. So their pals with less stable legs easier should make it to the sea I guess? 😉 But also so people can walk up from the beach without dragging so much sand with them. Civilized beach-life simply. And it made a nice picture. You have to dig it!

Don’t despair… summer will be back momentarily.

No despair there buddy, soon we are back on that beach!

Spring Day in March, Rimini Beach
Rimini Beach Changing booths.

Winter sucks, honestly. At least most of the time. There are days when sun is shining and the snow lays white and crisp. Then winter is OK. The rest of the time at least I am in despair once of twice each day. Maybe Prozac is the solution? 😉

Lungomare Pescara

Stretching after exercise – Pescara Lungomare

Pescara. The beach promenade. The choice for where Pescarians go exercising.
Stretching yer legs ha?

A lot of people take care of their exercise needs along the beach of Pescara. Pescara has a great beach and an even better promenade. Lungomare is a common street name along the Adriatic coast. And there is a reason – people love their promenade, and they are proud of it! Since many of the cities along the Adriatic coast were leveled, turned into gravel, eradicated during WW2; the Lungomare is what they have to show (bold exaggeration). Lungomare Pescara is well worth a stroll.

Monte Velino

Monte Velino: The Route Rome to Pescara

On the road from Rome to Pescara
Fantastic mountain-views from a gas station

The Appenines, pretty impressing mountains running through Italy from north to south. If you drive from Rome to Pescara (on the Adriatic Sea) you will pass this place about halfway on your route. A gas-station and pizza-joint perfectly located for a view of Monte Velino. And a slice of pizza of course. This joint has pretty good pizza. This the A25, but you could also take the northern path around L’Aquila on A24. Then you will pass under the Gran Sasso massive in a very long tunnel. And under Campo Imperatore, where Mussolini once was held prisoned… If you drive the A24 instead you will pass L’Aquila and Teramo and reach the Adriatic sea north of Pescara, at Giulianova. © Peter Lindberg 2013
